Pad Other Options

Mirrored Extent
Mirrors the pad about the sketch plane.

Reverse Direction
Reverses the direction of the pad.

More Button
Displays the Second Limit, reference Direction, and Thin Pad options.

Second Limit
Allows you to create a pad in the opposite direction to the first limit. The second limit is independent of the first limit and all the same

options are available.

Direction
Sets the direction normal to the selected profile (the default option). When Normal to profile is deactivated, you specify the reference

direction by picking a reference element in the Graphics window.

Thin Pad
Allows you to add an independent thickness to each side of the sketched profile.

Neutral Fiber makes the Thickness2 text box unavailable, and the Thickness1 value becomes the total thickness of the part, spread evenly on

each side of the profile.

Merge Ends extends the end of the pad to meet existing geometry.

Preview
Updates the display of the pad in the Graphics window.

Complex Profiles
To create pads from sketches with intersecting geometry, you must access the Profile Definition dialog. This dialog is available by

right-clicking in the Selection text box to display the pop-up menu. Click Go to profile definition to display the Profile Definition

dialog.

Whole geometry
Selects all the geometry in the current sketch (this is the default).
Sub-elements
Allows you to pick individual profiles and elements. To add the required profile, pick the geometry in the Graphics window. CATIA tries to

find an unambiguous closed profile. If CATIA can't find a profile automatically, you can manually pick the curves required.
